ABOUT ME

Hiya all, its Claudia and i’m from Singapore. I get really excited to explore new places and travel the world. It’s the time of my life as I am 19 years young with the whole world ahead of me to discover.

“the sovereign freedom of traveling comes from the fact that it whirls you around and turns you upside down, and stands everything you took for granted on its head.” – Pico Iyer

The world is our oyster…we love it for its culture, natural beauty, history and people. Always enriching to meet others in the far reaches of this planet. That’s why I believe that We are the World. Travelling, to me is an experience I would treasure. I find it fascinating to compare and analyse the different ways in which people in various parts of the world live their lives.

As a Singaporean, we too have our own culture. In this multicultrual society, English is the lingua franca but we do have our own local slang known as Singlish, which is the colloquail form of expression. When the singlish comes out of our mouths, you can identify the person as a Singaporean straight away.

We also have this tradition of being very “kiasu”, translated from Hokkien to mean – scared to lose. There are instances when we see a long queue and would rush to join in without even knowing what the queue is for. I too feel like a product of this “kiasu” syndrome, and with this mindset in mind and being a student still living under the financial help of my parents, I want to find the best way to travel to ensure I get the best deals and experiences all in.

After travelling to various places in Asia and Europe, its about time to cross the Atlantic to hit USA. After looking at the movie star screenings and possible places I can visit in America, I finally am using this opportunity to plan a trip to the Empire State, City of dreams.

In this blog, I will be introducing a broke students’ guide to the CONCRETE JUNGLE WHERE DREAMS ARE MADE OF. I personally chose New York because it is a vibrant city, so much happening with endless amounts of things to offer. With the nickname of being a party animal and a City girl, the night is always young for me. I wish to find out more about what there is to do in NYC at night and explore why it is the City that never sleeps.
